Wooden Bangles

My last project is the wooden bangles.  My first batch was a complete bust because I have a small wrist, and all of them were huge and so none would have fit my wrist or my 8 year old's.  I boiled the second batch on SAF after seeing Maile's video and put them inside our Disney World Disneybands!  It worked out great.

My girl wanted us to be twinkies so we painted them silver and used more butterflies.

End of the day SAF 2015 projects (Red Carpet)

I'll still do the wooden bracelets and the runway inspiration challenge tomorrow, but except for reading the forums and looking at the blog I am done for the night.

(So, in my world it is tomorrow...)

Here is a picture of my girl wearing her necklace.  She loves it!

Stamped Stitches: Pins & Needles Challenge

We were supposed to use stamps that had the appearance of stitches.  I really don't have a lot of those.  But Button boutique is an older set I have and I thought I'd make a cute little "love note" for my husband who has had the kids all day (out of the house even!) while I crafted.  I used both of our favorite colors and embossed the stitch look and turned the patch die into a diagonal to look a little more interesting.

Stick Pins: Pins & Needles Challenge

So over the years I have learned I am a CAS stamper.  Hard on me because I REALLY love patterned paper (the scrapbooker in me, I guess), but when it comes to card making I have a hard time putting anything on the card.

I love the design time member who challenged us this time.  She has had some of the most interesting ones over the years.  I loved the pins she chose and I even broke out a favorite set that I rarely use (my mom got me into cross stitching when I was a kid and we did it together for years- she passed away 5 years ago so it was an easy buy for me).

I know exactly who this will go too, but she may read my blog so I can't say. I really enjoyed this one!

Unconventional Items Challenge SAF 2015

This challenge was to use unconventional items.  We could purchase up to $10 worth of items at a hardware store.  I just raided my husband's "never know box." Eventually I'd love that box to become extinct... but there's always something and sure enough... that box holds the *perfect* item.  Who knew it would include items for stamping??

I used the big gray circle on the right to stamp the background.  I found 4 of the silver hollow disks and used 2 of them on the car.  I have NO IDEA who I would ever give this card to... but it was fun! :)

Mixing Patterns: Mix & Match SAF 2015

The challenge for this hour was to take different patterned papers (think fabrics!) and mix & match them.  I don't do this well... at. all.  I can use patterned paper, but unless it is spelled out for me I can't mix different ones.

Felt Necklaces: Accessories SAF 2015

We had another 2 part challenge- the first part was to make felt necklaces.  This challenge was the one that did make me want to buy the SAF kit, but I held off.  Erin's necklace is stunning, but I really did enjoy figuring out how I was going to get all the supplies and make this for my daughter.  One of the supplies was blingy buttons.  I wanted something a little more durable for my girl, and these painted wooden butterflies were just the thing!  I'm very happy with it!

Twine Techniques: Threads Challenge SAF2015

The second part of the Threads Challenge was to create a card using twine.  There were 10 techniques we could choose from and I chose: Wrap twine around an embellishment before attaching it to a card.  I never do this so I thought this would get me out of my box!

Here's my card:

Thread Nest: Threads Challenge SAF 2015

Our challenge for this hour was two parts.  The first part was one I've never done: Create a project featuring a thread nest.
I had purchased gold thread before SAF, and while I loved more of the techniques she used (stamping and blending) I've done those and get the thread off the spool and in place was probably going to be enough for me! And it was, lol.  After my 3rd try I finally had a nest that I could place a word over.  I also used a "thankful" die because today will be cards that I can use up in the coming months- birthday and thank you with a few sympathy are what I always need.

Here's my all gold card:

Patterns Challenge SAF 2015

Our second challenge is up! We are challenged to create a card using one of the 12 card patterns (card sketches) that was supplied. I chose card pattern #2:

Here is my card:

I really enjoyed this challenge and it was the first time I was able to use the rainstones I had purchased!

SAF 2015 Bridal Challenge

Our challenge this morning is to create a wedding card using nothing but white supplies except for a neutral ink color.  I was really fortunate with this challenge because almost all wedding cards I make are like this anyway.  I tried to do some additional things, like adding the ribbon and the pearls.  I typically leave them CAS.

SAF 2015 Friday Night Fashion Show

I am SO EXCITED to be a part of the festivities of SAF 2015 (4th year in a row!) tonight and tomorrow.  This year is PTI's take on Project Runway.  To start things off we were challenged to get a white t-shirt and alter it in some way.

We could stamp on it, sew on it, etc.  I really challenged myself because I have never done photo transfers onto shirts before.  So I did a little research, got the materials, and then one Saturday in June (!!) did all the work.  I took our SAF 2015 logo, enlarged it, added a bit more color to it, and it was such a great experience!

I took my own photo in a mirror, but the shirt looks right to people who are facing me when I am wearing it.

I enjoyed this so much, and it was early enough that I ended up doing July 4th T-shirts for my ENTIRE family.  We got so many great comments on them!  We have done $5 Old Navy t-shirts for 10 years.  Never again!

Here's a picture of us on the 4th of July:

I hope you enjoy the weekend!
