Ribbon cutting

Tonight was the ribbon cutting for our new practice. It was such a success!! So many patients, friends, and family came! I will post pics as soon as I upload them.

I am sorry I have not been posting to the blog. I have been doing LOTS of things, just not uploading and posting about it.

Thanks for all the inspiration on your blogs (if you have one that I read!)...

Way to Go!!

I have a great idea for our office and I was searching high and low through my favorite blogs to help me find inspiration.

Lauren's blog to the rescue!! She is one of the most talented designers I have ever seen. I have already done one of our ideas, see here, and plan on doing at least one more (which I will post when I have done it!).

So, here's the original post.

And here's my example...

I used textured cs and pp from HL. Brown grosgrain ribbon from Walmart clearance section. The 3 pumpkins stamped at the bottom is the pumpkin from CTMH Holiday Jubilee that I stamped and masked to make the image of 3. Then popped up on dimensionals. The sentiment is CTMH Say it in Style. The inside bottom has a layer of matching pp (stripes) so there is no "look" of the cs being taped together.

Dad's birthday

My dad's birthday was a little over a week ago and I made a card and sent it on time, but forget to take a pic of it or scan it. When I told my dad (who does read this!), he scanned the card and sent it to me :-). Thanks dad!!

This is a simple card- my life's been a bit crazy lately!

So, my dad's birthday is September 11th. A pretty awful day in our country for the last 7 years. But on that day, I get to call and wish my dad a Happy Birthday and be thankful for the ones we love. My dad and I have an interesting history, to say the least. But, for many years now we have had a good relationship, and since marrying Terry 11 years ago, my dad and I have had a wonderful relationship.

He is the dad I wanted growing up, and hopefully, I make him proud now. I actually ask for, and sometimes even listen, to his advice. I love to talk about the bible with him when we visit, and whatever he is studying. I positively adore watching him with my kids. And some of the best pics I have are of my dad, Terry, and Jake (when he was really little).

Anyway, this card uses the Blooming Dots embossing folder, MM green cs and pp, a random { stamp that I got at J's over a year ago (that I have now used twice!) and the sentiment was in a birthday stamp set also from J's (used that set A LOT since getting it a few months ago).

Picasa 3 anyone??

I know that some of you know about Picasa- google's free photo editing software. It was updated about a year or so ago to Picasa 2. Not much difference in my opinion.

But, recently they updated again. Hallelujah!! Now you can touch up a photo, write text over it, make a movie, etc without paying big bucks for Photoshop, etc.

Emma's birthday invites

So, my daughter is almost 2 (I REALLY don't know how that happened!!) and we're going to throw a small party for her next month. Unlike Jake, she's not that interested in TV, or toys- except for the one Jake has at any given moment. But, she DOES like Elmo. So, I decided to do an Elmo party... my problem- nothing Elmo!

Also, I don't want to spend a lot of money, so I used some random cs I've had for a year or so, the Celebrations cartridge from my cricut, and a borrowed stamp from a friend. I had gotten some birthday stamps a few months ago, so I knew I could use those too (getting very resourceful in my current financial state!).

This is what I came up with...

I let the cricut actually cut out the cards with the #2 in it! Then, it cut out all the scalloped square/rectangle image. I stamped them and added stickles to the star and glossy accents to the bows. On the inside I stamped the "For, Date, Time, etc" AND stamped the info (her name, the actual date, etc).

But, I found a great stamp on sale when I was at HL... got it for $3!! Now, I can sell it (anyone need an elmo stamp??)... So, I stamped Elmo on red paper in black ink, colored the eyes and mouth and cut them out and glued to the inside of the card. Heeeeeeerrrrrreeeee's Elmo:

Sympathy

A woman I worked with for many years at my last office lost her mom last week. She was diagnosed with cancer in early August and passed away so quickly. Lisa and I felt so badly for her, so as soon as I heard, I went home and made her a card. I didn't use traditional colors, but wanted it to have a soft feel to it. I used one of Lauren's sketches.

I used PTI Lavendar moon for the cs base and polka dot ribbon. I also used it for the circl bases for the flowers and stamped sentiment. The flowers are CTMH Friendship Blessing in garden green. Then, I used my blender pen to fill them in. Put some stickles in the center and let dry. Covered the entire image with glossy accents and let dry. Then, I cut them out and glued onto the PTI cs. The sentiment is CTMH Say it in Style... just simple and not overwhelming. You can't tell in the pic, but the ribbon is a bit longer than the card and cut to look like a bookmark at the bottom. The flowers/circles are popped up for some dimension. The plaid paper was bought at J's last year for the kids' Easter pages.

Thank yous (part 2)

So, here's the male version of the Thank you cards I posted about yesterday. Exact same technique and order, just different colors!

I used CTMH Garden Green ink at the bottom, Cocoa for the stamp image, and Making Memories paper.
