First day of First Grade! Sad, but this cute boy posed WITHOUT me asking him too!! His idea!!! Oh goodness :-)... anyway, Cricut cuts and PTI stamps, paper I have had forever (!!), and a layout that I got off of a great blog (but I have now lost my notes, yikes!... so please let me know if you recognize this sketch- I definitely want to give credit!).
Here's my favorite sketch again, turned upside down! I also scored the pink cs in the bottom one and cuttlebugged the brown cs in the top one. Matching dsp's to match, bling in the top card (click to get a better look), cricut cuts for the panels, PTI stamp for the sentiment on top and SU sentiment on bottom. The only thing wrong is that pink bow: I love it so much I don't know how I'll put it in an envie to mail to anyone!
Well, I finally caved and bought the Tinkerbell cricut cartridge. Walmart's are either not going to carry cricut products at all (like all the ones near me!!), or are going to carry the new Cricut Lite cartridges. So, all Walmarts are trying to get rid of their stock. I picked up the Tink cart for $20. That is such a great deal! Since my daughter STILL thinks Tink rules, I figure I'll get a few good uses out of it before it sits on my shelf unloved (and then sold??).
This was to represent Emma's first fishing experience. Hard to balance "girly" with, well, "scaly fish"... but hopefully it looks okay. Lots of pinks with a denim colored light blue and white as the focal color. The flowers and title are from the Tink cartridge. I put stickles on the paper doll girl trying to make her look girly enough!
I won't tell you the reason "why" but my dd earned the right to take her teachers homemade chocolate chip cookies. Now, I'm a working mom and while my kids get treats throughout the year, we don't do a lot of baking except for birthdays and holidays. I'm a big believer in letting them help me and eat the batter. But, there just isn't a lot of time. Since this was a pretty special occasion, I pulled out the "Santa" cookie recipe and away we went. Of course, the packaging needed to be perfect so apparently I turned into Martha Stewart, ha! They did turn out cute though! Yea for the cricut and lots of cute paper!
I've never worked so long on a scrapbook layout in my life!! This was a solid two-day effort! I had inspiration from both Tammy and Monique from Everyday Cricut. The papers are awesome (Pink Paisley) and more cricut'ing than I've done on a layout in a LONG time. And, then I stamped, and I stickled, and I chipboard'ed, and I embellished galore!! But, when I was done I had to admit it was one of my most favorite spreads ever. Cartridges were: Christmas Cheer, Christmas Noel Solutions, Winter Wonderland, Snow Friends, and Storybook. In the title, I actually used chipboard for "magic" to give it more dimension. I inked (chocolate CTMH ink) just about every part of 
the page except the snowflakes and snowgirl. The window from Noel shows Emma looking through it (looking really cold!!) and I used Glossy Accents to make it look like real glass panes. (tip: Use clear & blue stickles for snow/ice!) I used Storybook to create a little book (lower left corner on the right page) to hold extra pictures. By cutting through the plastic sleeve of the page protector we can look through the book anytime without removing the entire layout. Also, it is a really thick book because of embellies so I used a big brad to hold the pages together (and mostly closed).
Close to My Heart introduced the most WONDERFUL cherry paper this summer and I had to have some!! As soon as I got my hands on it I immediately made these 2 cards for 2 great ladies having birthdays this summer: my birthday gal pal Michelle in Ohio (HI and Happy Birthday to us!!) and my mother-in-law (we're still working on that internet in small-town OK!). Anyway, gotta love cricut for all tag-type needs, and some lucious stickles for the cherries on the bottom card.
Lots of cricut"ing", paper I got on clearance (still had the 9 cent tags on them) when Recollections closed years ago, and 3D stickers I bought when Emma was born and FINALLY took out of the package (purse, ABC book, color page). Those were so old that I had to put new adhesive on them, haha. Gotta love it when things like this come together!
Since lots of weddings happen in May and June that means lots of anniversaries in future years! This is one of my fave color combos. Used another cuttlebug folder I don't use often, but I think is really effective. Lots of pretty stamping swirls on the vanilla cs.
I love that Jake loves fishing with his dad and uncles when we visit the family. Jake caught a TON of fish last time we were there. He had a blast!! I tried to really capture his joy and the sheer volume of fish he caught that day for future conversations of that fun memory. How did I do? :-) (this is when I love my cricut the most!)
These are the cards I made for the other "specialty" teachers for my son. See if you can figure out who each card was meant for and I'll tell you who at the bottom. These had to be clean and simple because these were all done while under a lot of stress going on at home. But, I actually loved how they came out and thought my idea was really clever in the end.
The oldest cousin in the "second" generation of cousins on my side of the family is graduating high school. Makes me feel old considering I remember well when she was born. Used a card function on one of the cricut cartridges (I rarely do that) and some PTI shimmer paper and then made a large diploma on the front. Hope she liked it!

What's funny is that when Jake and I were looking at the layout (after I was done, he could still remember and tell me all the meanings of the drawings on the vest that represented different things).
scraps for the 2 dinos, cricut to cut them out, design studio to "flip" the bottom one. My son picked out which dinos to use, the colors they should be, and he taped them down. It is PTI cs (so they would be a good weight). And, just like the girls, he did the verse, his name, and I laminated them.
Jake actually did quite a bit for this project and he did almost all of the bookmarks for the boys (to be seen in another post). He stamped the hearts, helped cut out the circles and scallops, taped everything together, and on the back wrote a bible verse (his idea!!) and his name (he had to do that 16 times... 8 for the girl bookmarks and 8 for the boy bookmarks!!).
