Saturday Snail Mail: Thank You PTI Staff

This is probably my last card to enter for a challenge, but I was so glad I was able to participate.  We were asked to make (& send) a Thank You card to the warehouse staff at PTI in OH.  Being an employer, I know how important a simple "thank you" can be to the staff.

Paper Crafting Alphabet

I'm still playing a long with the anniversary festivities!  Today's challenge was the alphabet challenge.  My letters were:

Color Pop Challenge

Two posts (2 cards!) in one day.  For my blog it may be record (in years anyway).  This is for the color pop challenge.  As a kid/teen of the 80's, it was fun to make one of the "flip" paper fortune tellers.

The colors I had to use were: Summer Sunrise, Canyon Clay, and Pure Poppy.  The only way (in my mind) that these colors would work well together was to go very CAS.  More so than I usually am able to do so confidently.  I hope it looks good!

Grab & Craft PTI Challenge

PTI's 9th anniversary is still happening!  I was able to play along with their "5 minute Grab & Craft" challenge today.  I used a panel that I had stamped and colored a long time ago (maybe a year?).  Pulled out the cardstock base and cut it and then the stamp set was on my craft table (so was the bling).  Took longer to photograph and upload.

PTI 9th anniversary Project Favorites

NSBD Tag into project (post 3)

This is the 3rd post of the day... you can scroll down if you want to see a Masculine birthday card or a MIMonday anniversary card.

Nat'l Scrapbook Day was yesterday and I played along with My Pink Stamper. The challenge for this layout can be found at her website.

I got the paper on clearance at JoAnn's but it is awesome!  Shimmer pink with snowflakes and a coordinating printed paper too.  I used some old bling/shimmer cardstock (have had it since she was born) both pink and white.  Then used PTI Sweet Blush, Hibiscus Burst, and Shimmer White cardstock.  The only way I was able to do this so quickly is the sketch came from the Bug Junkie and was pretty easy to layout and I've known I was going to do this layout all week.  Adding the tag at the end was easy.  (I personally still think it needs something... maybe in the middle; plus the 2nd page to the 2 page layout, but I didn't have time).

NSBD Kraft Card (post 2)

Saturday May 7th was Nat'l Scrapbooking Day.  There were lots of blogs and websites celebrating.  I was working on some projects but when I needed a break I would play along with Robyn over at My Pink Stamper.  (there is also a gal in the PTI Dolls group, Laurie, who was celebrating and I checked in with her too... *hi Laurie*... but never got to any of her challenges)

Anyway, I had already intended on making a masculine birthday card and this challenge : USE KRAFT CARDSTOCK (#2) was perfect for me!

I used one of the Make it Monday "challenges" from several weeks ago (was this the first one??) and masked out the image of the die for MS 1.  Then used a gel pen to dash in the outline and stamp in my sentiment.  Thought it was pretty cool.

Get better Grandpa!

This past weekend Terry went to visit his folks in OK. Last week Friday his dad was scheduled to have a quadruple bypass. While Terry's brothers could be there, Terry had to work mandatory overtime (and we'd just returned from my grandmother's funeral). So, Terry wanted to go back home now that his dad has gotten out of the hospital. (and, Praise God he only needed a triple bypass!!).

He asked for a card to give his Dad, but so the kids could color pictures inside (best of both worlds, right?).

I used our latest stamper's blog challenge for the inspiration (although, I am not entering the card in the contest since I couldn't send it to the winner). Funny thing, though... are those black buttons. They are PINK!! I glued black paper on them, dried, poked the holes through, then sanded the sides. But, in the close-up you can still see some pink! oops!

I've been challenged...

Holly has sent me a challenge. Here are the rules:





Go to where you store your photos on your computer. Go to the SIXTH folder and pick the SIXTH photo. Post that photo on your blog along with a SHORT story about it. Tag SIX people and leave a comment on their blog or email them letting them know you chose them.



This is Jake (my son who is NOW 5 years) eating his "first" bite of baby cereal. Around May 2004...If you remember back to when your first child (roughly within the last 3 to 10 years) got to eat that first bite (of essentially a teaspoon of baby cereal in a cup of formula or breastmilk) of food, it was SUCH a big deal!! Pictures, fanfare, etc. (we even videotaped it!!). (Most people around my age were fed baby cereal practically at birth, so I don't think it was as big a deal).

Anyway, what's funny is I could not WAIT to be able to feed him "real" food... as soon as I got the go ahead, we did it. With my 2nd child, I think I "got around to it" when she was 6 months or older! I definitely have a few pics, but it was nothing like feediing my first! :-)

Verve sketch #2

Here is the other sketch challenge card I did about 10 days or so ago (man, I've had lots of posts lately!).

I don't have a punch or label dies to make the image panel and mat. I just measured and cut off the same amount on both papers to create the look (what do you think??).

I stamped the image in CTMH Holiday Red and the sentiment in black. I needed red brads, didn't have them, so I "made" them with red stickles.

The pp is scraps I've had leftover for about 2 years (a lo I did for Jake's book) and because I recently organized my scraps I found them!

Blogging Challenge #5 Challenge rules & example

My blogging group is ready for the next challenge... and I am the host!! The cards must be posted on January 31, 2009 to their blogs and voting should begin on February 1st. I am excited because we are past snow and winter wonderland stamping and images. Our next challenge is to create a VALENTINE's day card for the one you love (whether it is your spouse, your child, your parent, your significant other... whoever it is!).

These are the rules:

1. You must use at least TWO (2) hearts on your card (more is fine, and they don't have to match).
2. You must use at least TWO (2) shades of red OR a red and a pink.
3. There must be some type of bling or glitter.


This is my example and I'll repost it on the 31st. I used a sheet of patterned paper I have had for YEARS. The hearts on the pp are embossed and covered in glitter. I used a sketch from Lauren Meader. The heart stamp and Love sentiment are actually from a cheap set I got (don't know where) that is really for mother's day, father's day, etc. I used bazzill red cs for the strip and white paper I had embossed with my cuttlebug Stylized Flowers folders. Then, I stamped the hearts in CTMH Holiday Red, cut and matted on bazzill red cs and popped them up.

I stamped the sentiment in Staz-on black ink b/c the pp was VERY slick. I even had to go back and heat set it later.

Blogger 3 Challenge 4

This was a double trouble challenge...

2 colors plus a neutral (brown in this case)
2 stamps only (flower from image swap & sentiment)
2 embellishments (flower & bella baubles)

I used Taylor's sketch from around Christmas, random pp.

At different times I didn't like the card, then would change my mind and like it, then back again.

Holy Name Challenge #1

This was my "take" on the first Holy Name Challenge...

Patter @ Triple the Scraps will list a name or attribute of God every other Sunday.

Then, we find a verse or song lyrics that speak to us personally about that name or attribute.

Holy was the first attribute.

God is Holy- he is pure, unblemished, blameless.

After praying and looking around, I came (pretty quickly) about this verse in 1 Peter.

1Peter 1:16 "for it is written, 'Be holy, because I am holy.'"

It's very simple and straigtforward. After deciding that I would do a series of tags, I printed off the verse onto photo paper, brayered some ink over it, matted it, and put it on a piece of CM pp. the flowers are random..

On the back of the tag I've dated it and written out what I feel like is important about this verse.

You call us to *be* holy- don't try, attempt, or even succeed. Just *be*. As You are... to do that, I must *be* Christlike, be filled with the fruits of the spirit, be known as a follower of Jesus. Be Holy!

SCS Blogger 3 Challenge 3

Happy New Year's Eve everyone!!

Well, our 3rd challenge has arrived. First, it was a sketch challenge with a Christmas theme or summer theme (it was still before Christmas when this started).

I used some of the leftover pp from our Christmas cards, added the red strip down the middle with some ribbon I had bought for the cards, but never used.

The bella was from the image swap I participated in with my blogger group. I colored her with copics, did my first shadowing (!), edged the sides with versamark and heat embossed red glitter powder. I added a bit of red stickles to her shoes and the wreath.

Faux Silk technique

SCS challenge on 12/22 was to try a new technique: Faux Silk. To see the video tutorial for this... go here.

I used the SCS Sketch challenge from the 24th as well...

The verve butterfly stamp and sentiment is my only Verve stamp set... but I love it! I paired it with a butterfly border set that I've had since I first started stamping.

I simply used CTMH Hydrangea ink, with pp I've had for awhile.

This is not my favorite technique or sketch, but isn't this about trying something NEW??? That's how we know what we do or don't like!!

Card and Tree...

Okay, Christmas is soooo close. Can you tell? Hopefully, the chaos is settling down and the merriment of the season is picking up. Maybe it's warm where you live, or cold... here in TX it's both! Simultaneously! Ha!

This is a pick of our tree in our living room. Terry does such a great job every year putting it up. I do the ornaments, but he does the rest. I collected snowmen for many years, so you might see a few :-). I have one of those lighted towns from my sister when I got married, and except 1 year, it always is up.


This will be the last card I show till after Christmas. I used Taylor's sketch challenge TECC47
but paired it with the Bella color challenge #59. The CTMH colors were Buttercup, Outdoor Denim, and Sorbet. I don't have buttercup cs, so I used PTI Lemon tart (shhhh!). And, if it weren't for my good friend Melissa (my CTMH consultant), I wouldn't have had any Sorbet. But, the pp in the pic is Sorbet (pretty isn't it?... cross between pink and peach).

The flowers are there b/c of a mistake when I was cutting out the scallop circle on my cricut. I just can't get my mats to stay sticky for very long! Oh well. The bella baubles finish out the flower and the 3 "dots".

Next couple of posts will be non-stamping stuff!
